Anti-racist work means:
- acknowledging that racist beliefs and structures are pervasive in all aspects of our lives
- learning the history of racism to educate yourself about the issues you'll be confronting.

What is the 'Subliminal Social Justice Guide?'
It’s well known that one of the best ways to improve on a skill is to practice it. And when we have never done something before, we often seek out someone who’s better than us – seeking out their opinions, expertise, and even training. The right collection of influencers raises us up, helping us to learn and grow. When we surround ourselves with positive, successful people, they consciously (and subconsciously) challenge us to be our best selves. (Cohen, 2020)
We have found this same premise applies to learning, as well. When we surround ourselves with content creators, researchers, writers, teachers, speakers and individuals out there sharing their work of learning and un-learning, we gain from their shared knowledge and often desire to do more learning ourselves. As a result, we have built a carefully curated collection of accounts and media that we surround ourselves with to keep us engaged and motivated. We’ve come to refer to it, jokingly, as our “subliminal social justice campaign.” These accounts pop into our lives day after day, sharing new information with us, keeping us informed and tuned in. When we started talking about sharing these resources, we realized the power behind this collection. Today’s social media can often be competitive, insincere, and full of voices with loud opinions. But we can leverage those platforms to our advantage when we carefully curate our feeds – and bring others into our world who are there to make us better, more informed people.
We hope you enjoy this collection of people and media that we have found invaluable. We plan to update this guide quarterly, so keep your eyes open for the next wave of subliminal social justice.
